Just a little warm up. Like I said, a lot had happened during my months of silence, both good and bad. Let me start with the bad thing. Happened on 9th November 2015, Monday. After work, I rushed out of my house for a badminton game. I drove the 'little bit broken' Kembara, which gear was malfunctioning, but still I drove it anyway. So, in drizzle, I reached the T-junction near my housing area, where I had to stop at an uphill road. Desperate to beat the time, the soonest I saw my right was clear, with just a careless glimpse on my left side, I stepped on the gas. Just a split second after I set my foot on the gas pedal, I saw a motorbike came in, into my way, and we met in the middle.
Thud, and very belatedly I braked the car. I already hit the biker, he and his bike crashed into the front of Kembara and went under, bringing down the car's iron bar/bumper with him. I panicked. I was really afraid he was hurt real bad. Luckily, he might have only few bruises, nothing else. But I was really, really panicked that the biker actually had to calm me down, telling me he was okay and that I need not to worry. The only thing he asked was to bear the cost of repairing the motorbike, and that's it. He didn't even ask for my name or my phone number. So, I asked for his number, and I called him the next day, where we went to workshop together and settled the matter.
What amazed me was, usually, in such a very clear accident, where the fault was clearly mine, the victim would get very angry, and...you know, the usual. But it was totally the opposite. He was very very kind, even helped to calm me down. He helped me to settle the matter, brought me to witness first hand and actually deal with the workshop on the repair works, so as to make sure no one cheated, I went to talk to his employer, the actual owner of the bike, and thank God, everything went so very smoothly. The overall settlement was less than RM200. At the workshop, other people even tried to persuade him to take advantage of the accident to actually add unnecessary repairs, but he just brushed it off.
Well, there are still good people here in this world, today. Hard to find, but when you do, they'll make your day, and light up hopes for better tomorrow.
The damage............
