Unexpected Football

Why unexpected?  Because I was told that we were invited to join a team, for a futsal tournament in Kota Marudu, last Sunday.  We didn't know it wasn't what we thought it was, until we finally reach KM and found out that all the usual futsal venues were 'empty'.  Only then we were told that it was held at KM Police football field, and that it was a Football tournament.

We were surprised, very very surprised.  We packed our futsal shoes, but we couldn't possibly use that there.  The field was wet, muddy and the weather was not cooperating at all, threatening to offer downpour anytime at all.

Anyway, it was too late to withdraw, the team needed us, maybe not for the tactical strategy, but to complete the number of players required.  I played defense, but barefooted on wet and muddy field, a very very bad combination.  I hurt myself more by trying to stay upright when chasing the ball or player, than by actually playing football.  We played 4 matches, won 3 and draw 1.  That put us in 1st runner up position, good for RM450 cash, and a trophy, all of which priced at RM700.

It was a good experience, only if I have a proper pair of football boots.

There, just put on a pink jersey, off would I do in.  Barefooted

A little selfie there

The team in black and yellow jersey was the Champion for the tournament.  Defending champion.

  1. 1st runner up? Not bad for the barefooted.
