Work trip to Maliau Basin

Before you are led to think that I actually stepped on the lost world itself, the majestic waterfall, let me set things right beforehand, we only stayed at the resthouse, not a meter beyond that.

The meeting, which usually held at a hotel, this time, for a change, it was held deep in the forest about 5 hours from Tawau airport.  The journey to the place was bumpy, I mean really bumpy.  Weather along the way slowed us down since the road was slippery.  I should be enjoying the view and the serenity, but long journey in a 4-wheel is just not my thing, I had 'carsick'.  A real headache, had to sleep almost all the way.

The lodging area was quite quiet, and lived up to the expectation.  There were 2 nature programs planned, night safari, one on the first night of arrival,  the other, canopy walk, the final day, morning.  I didn't join both, as I had set beforehand that I was there solely for work, and nothing more.

There was a warthog, and as expected, the ground area below our hostel was quite muddy.  It was a relief to know we didn't have to walk through it, because there was walkways...built higher above the ground, towards the hostel.

To maximize the experience of living in the peaceful nature, the electricity supply was supposed to be cut off at midnight until 6 am.  But, an exemption made especially for us, during our meeting, we had a non stop supply of power.  Good for me, because I didn't plan on immersing myself in the nature yet.

Food was good, facilities were okay, and all in all, it was a great place to wind up, relax and have peace.

Just enjoy the few pictures I took.
