Me in 2009 |
A small or big change? This was me in 2009... Huh, looking back at this picture I realized....man, I was BIG... Okay, maybe not that seriously big, but enough to cause discomfort to me, disrupt my breathing and just...heavy. I looked older than I actually am, which is well above 30...that time, I was exactly 30.
My history is, I had a yoyo weight pattern. I almost always was in average to a little less than average weight. That was due to my active life, and maybe my equally yoyo'ed appetite. I started to gain weight when I stopped my sports in Form 5, and consistently went 'up' from there. Stopped my school era in the middle when I went to study UiTM in 1996 (end). Hostel life drastically changed the pattern to 'down' and continued until I started working in 2002. I think I reached my 'peak' in 2003/2004 when my weight was only 43/44 kg, well below my ideal 49.
To cut the story short, 3 years after the birth of my daughter, I found it hard to control my weight, and the result is...in the photo above.
However, lucky me, I gained my footing back and started my journey back to comfort, in 2011, by leading a very, very active life...sports at least 3 times a week, up to 6 times a week. It was very, very enjoying, I must say, and I am glad my body can keep up to the energy demand. A bonus, my sports can keep my stress at bay.
Weight loss program? No, unluckily, I don't have any specific program or diet or food supplement. Just a very active lifestyle and daily prayers that He'll help me get through my day, one at a time.
For friends who are facing weight problem, please do apologize me, this post meant nothing to insult or offend you. This is actually an encouragement, that nothing is impossible or no such thing as too late, if you want to start something, achieving something. Honestly, it is not that I never tried diet, yes I definitely did, back in 1995 and 1996, but my effort was useless. Maybe because I focused too much on my weight that the effort was only an effort to me, a giant one, for that matter, that I lost my interest in it as soon as I started.
Personally, the best thing in trying is, doing it with all your heart, without even knowing you are doing it, because you enjoy it, and you do it for the pleasure derived from it. Don't know if you know what I'm trying to tell you here, but I really hope you get the message.
All the best for those who are trying. Your effort will be well paid.

Huhuhu....sa suka ini tajuk. I am one of the millions out there who are struggling to lose weight.
ReplyDeleteNow after giving birth..I find it harder and harder to lose weight..but as always..I am not giving up. I keep on trying walaupun most of the time fail. hahahaha. But...I am still hoping.
Have faith you'll succeed, Chris. As Faith=Hoping+Doing. I believe you will achieve whatever it is you've been dreaming of. Hard to shed postnatal weight, but it's not impossible. You did it before, shed off weight, I know you do it again.
ReplyDeleteReally? Time bujang2 pun susah sudah mau lose weight..kalau postnatal lebih susah...naaaaa..:(
ReplyDeleteBtw, you don't look old in the picture above (you in 2009). And you don't look big. In fact..I don't remember you ever look 'big'.
Don't be discouraged. U can do it.
ReplyDeleteNot big? Well, that's good. You don't remember, but i do remember the experience . Not pleasant, if you ask me.
