Books!!!!!!!!!

These are not actually new as the books were bought and read more than a month ago.  However, I'd love to share them here, as there is always possibility that someone out there would appreciate a very short review, and might probably loan the book from the nearest library, or even buy the books, thanks to this entry.

Two of the books were bought online, via www.postme.com.my.  It was my first time visiting the site after too many times listening to its ad on the radio.  Finding the price of the books on the site was fairly cheap compared to bookstores, I quickly selected 2 titles.  However, I didn't manage to complete the checkout as I didn't want to use my debit card there (due to unfamiliarity of the site as a first time user) and I don't have any credit card.  Though I thought the chance to own the book was lost for good there, but thanks to Pos Malaysia's quick action, I immediately received order confirmation through email and phone, and given opportunity to pay at collection point, which was not even an option back then.  It is, now.

So, the books.  1st, is, again, by Sophie Kinsella, Twenties Girl.  Her first try to write a ghost story.  Like always, it's funny, hilarious even, highly amusing, interesting, very engaging and smooth storyline.  Reading it felt like watching the movie right before my eyes.  It is a story about a young, almost failed, entrepreneur, a talent scout, or career matchmaker, who failed in her lovelife.  She met the ghost of her recently deceased great aunt who died of old age at old folks home.  The ghost was a young, vibrant version of her very old dead aunt, who frantically asked her to search for her missing necklace.  The adventure and mishaps built from the search, presented in an interesting plot.  A very nice read, highly recommended to ease headache and release tension.

2nd, another book from another favourite writer, Nicholas Sparks.  Title: The Choice.  This time, for me, the storyline is a bit bland, missing his signature touch.  Probably because this book is among the first novels he had written.  It seems like he had the idea, but jumping from here, to there and back here again, trying to deliver the message, in vain.  The emotional touch is there, but not quite there.  I don't know how to describe this, but if I were to rate the book, I'll give it 3 over 5.  Nice, but not good enough.  The story is about a man, an eligible bachelor, a vet, who fell in love with his neighbour, who is already in a steady, be it a shaky, relationship with other man. Lots of flashbacks about how they met and how the relationship between them was building.  Finally, the choice the man had to make for his wife, who was in long coma, because of an accident due his carelessness.  To choose whether to allow the life support to stop or to send her to a home, where nurses can take closer watch on her.  An ok, so-so read.  Great if you have lots of free time to get by.

Another two books to go, but since they are under different genre compared to the above two, think I better put in under another entry.

Till then....
