Borneo International Marathon 2014 - 10 KM

This is my first time to join this event.  Felt quite excited, among the early 'birders' to register for the event.

My history with long distance run.....Nil.  I hated it, until now, I am still not that fond of jogging.  My only fitness routine is strength and agility building, as for stamina, around 45 minutes to an hour a day.  I jog only once in a while, depends on my friends, whether they can persuade me or not.

So, my last training was on Thursday night, Labours' Day, at Perdana Park, went for 7 km only as we were running out of time, I had another errand to perform afterwards.  I felt quite confident as my body didn't complain at all, it felt just like after my normal exercise routine.  However, starting Friday morning until Saturday night, I lost my appetite, big time.  It could be because of I tried a chocolate mix on Thursday night, and it didn't go well with my already small appetite.  So, I couldn't eat much, as much as I actually needed for my strength for my quite vigorous activities' demand.  Ate less than a small bowl of rice for lunch on Saturday, milo and a couple of crackers for Saturday dinner. And, that was it.

I set my alarm at 4.15am Sunday morning, in hope I could pop into my mouth at least a bar of chocolate for my energy but I slept through the alarm.  Took off from home about 5.30am, without food or a single drop of water.  I could only hope against hope that my stomach would hold until the finishing line, but lo, it halted my run halfway, at 5th km mark. Gastric!! I was truly pissed off, at myself, because I had a personal aim to achieve, but I failed this time. Forced to just walk for the next 3 km, before decided to push through the pain, tried to sprint off in the last 1.5km towards the finishing line.

I did manage to finish within the standard time to earn my medal though.  However, it is now my mission to beat my own record in the next race, whatever event or wherever it will be.  Thank God for granting me opportunity and health to be able to be involved in such fun and challenging activity.  Friends, come join the effort towards health and fitness, for our own good.

Before the race, thinking of food

Drenched in sweats afterwards, what a reward it was

With my loyal 'partner in crime'...hehehe...before riding home, on a motorbike.

    1. Yes, same hope here. Not much, still in the process of toughing it up, slowly but surely. Still, nature is great here. Loving it too.
