Here they are. Another two books of the same genre, thrill and mystery fictions.
1st is by Dan Brown (again!?). I fell in love with his books since Angels and Demons and I intended to buy all his books and add them to my precious collection. This time it's titled 'The Lost Symbol'. I took an extra long time compared to his first book that I bought, to finish reading. Why? Because I struggled a bit in trying to relate to the main mystery, main character. It's about Smithsonian/Freemason, Masonry Society. Many famous American figures were mentioned, and said to be part of Smithsonian. I have heard about this society before, but didn't really know what it is, the stand, the belief and its history. Hence the struggle to keep up with the plot. In this book, it lingered around a search of a Lost Symbol, carefully kept hidden by Smithsonian leaders throughout the century. The symbol held with it the greatest power could ever known to human race. The search, by a mystery yet powerful man led to great thrills, cruel murders and chilling chase and mystery. Robert Langdon once again become the leading character, yet in this book, he died. Sorry for the spoiler, but it is highly advisable for you, mystery and thrill lovers out there, to read the book yourself. It'll be very rewarding, I promise.
Second, I tried to read mystery, mind boggling book by a different author, just for a change. While Dan Brown concentrated his writings to Christianity and history of the Western civilisations, Michael Byrnes focused his on Christianity compared to other religion, mainly Islam. Good thing about his books is, although it may seem at the beginning of the book he is creating conflict between the two, but actually he is leading to something more interesting, a point where we thought it wouldn't be possible. I have to agree, he has the potential to compete Dan Brown. Title: The Sacred Bones. The book is about a raid into an old tomb, believed to be of Jesus Christ, under the Islamic site of Marwanie Mosque, for Jews and Christian it is the Temple Mount, a place where Abraham was supposed to sacrifice his son, Isaac. A very important artifact, carefully hidden because of its potential to shake the very base of Christian faith, and potentially negatively affect Islamic world if revealed, was stolen. By who, for what and how both Christian and Islamic leaders and scientists worked together to prevent the artifact from the world's eyes is the thrill of this book. Like Dan Brown books, it is coloured by hideous murders, chasing, mystery and bone and faith shaking. A very good read, indeed.
So, that's it for now. I had to literally stop myself from entering any bookstore, or English Fiction Section, to be specific, to prevent myself from buying another book. My addiction needs to be controlled, though sometimes I feel like a drug addict, so desperately need to satisfy my craving for another novel.
Till the next time around........
